JONEL HEIN is assigned as the Deputy District Director for the SBA’s South Florida District Office. Hein assists the director in delivering SBA’s financial assistance, management counseling and business development programs throughout South Florida. She is responsible for the daily operation of the District office in Miami and two Alternate Work Sites in Tampa and Ft. Pierce. As deputy director, Ms. Hein focuses on building and maintaining a collaborative network with small business stakeholders, serving as a resource for South Florida businesses and representing SBA at community business events. Ms. Hein is a 21-year veteran with SBA. She has worked at every level of the administration including economic development specialist; area manager; business development specialist; lender relations specialist; and secretary. Prior to her civil service, she worked in the public sector as a loan officer with several banks in Florida and Washington State. Ms. Hein earned her Associates Degree from Miami-Dade Community College in Business Administration in 1999.
MIGUEL E. GONZALEZ, a 28-year federal service professional, is the Assistant District Director for Lender Relations for the South Florida District. He transferred from the SBA Disaster Assistance Program in Niagara Fall, NY, 15 years ago where he served as Supervisory Loan Officer. Miguel’s first assignment at the SBA South Florida District was as Chief of Portfolio Management in charge of the Division handling Servicing and Liquidation of SBA Disaster and Guaranty loans portfolio. Since then, Miguel became Chief of Finance and subsequently Assistant District Director for Customer Services. In 2012, he was selected to be Assistant District Director for Lender Relations. His staff oversees all participant Lenders, Microlenders and Certified Development Centers in South Florida.
MITCHELL C. FOGEL is the Principal and Founder of The Fogel Law Group in Boca Raton, FL. Because of Mitch’s extensive and varied experience, his clients seek and rely on his legal counsel regarding their commercial and residential real estate matters, commercial leasing and landlord/tenant affairs, lending and banking transactions, and business and corporate opportunities and dealings. A Certified and Expedited SBA 504 Loan Closing Counsel, he has developed an excellent reputation nationwide for his expertise in SBA loan transactions. Mitch has been closing both 7(a) and 504 loans since 1995 for many lenders, and also handles modifications, workouts, foreclosures and liquidations of SBA loans. A graduate of the University of Florida (B.S.B.A. in Finance, 1983, Highest Honors; Gold Key and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies) and George Washington University, National Law Center (J.D., 1987; Phi Alpha Delta), he is also an instructor with various colleges and organizations, teaching courses and webinars on Real Estate Closings; Mortgage and Finance Law; Negotiations; Commercial Contracts and Transactions; Loan Workouts and Foreclosures; and The Law of Business Organizations. Mitch has also been a speaker and has served as a panelist on local and national real estate, lending and business transaction forums. As a small business owner and attorney, Mitch is very committed to the ideas and principles behind the SBA and its programs and is an active member of The National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (NAGGL) and The National Association of Development Companies (NADCO).
DEBORAH PETRELL is Senior Vice President & Sales and Marketing Manager for Florida First Capital Finance Corporation (FFCFC) and is based in Delray Beach. She has more than 35 years of experience in the real estate industry. Before relocating to South Florida Debbie managed the development of over 500 single family homes and several commercial and industrial parks in MA. She also formed Domenic Financial to originate A&D loans for local developers. Before becoming FFCFC’s top producing BDO, she was the Vice President of Research and Finance for the Broward Alliance processing industrial revenue bonds and tax credits for Broward County. Debbie has a B.S from Emmanuel College and an M.B.A from Simmons Business School, Simmons College, Boston, MA.
LIUDMILA ESQUERDO (aka Lou) began her career in Banking 15 years ago and joined Totalbank in February of 2014 as VP/SBA Operations Administrator. Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to fill various positions within commercial real estate and Small Business Lending. She began her career as a credit analyst with International Bank of Miami and has filled various positions in Lending, from origination to liquidation, which have helped shape her vast experience and extensive knowledge within the industry. Ms. Esquerdo specializes in Small Business Lending products.
An SBA Lending Officer in the Florida market since 1991, Mr. McClintock is the Specialty Finance Officer for JPMorgan Chase since 2011 and his department handles JPM Chase ‘s SBA 504 and 7a lending from Broward to Brevard Counties. Prior to that he was Vice President of SBA Lending for Florida at Citigroup and the Senior SBA Lending Officer for Fidelity Federal Bank and Trust in West Palm Beach. His career in community and investment banking in both New England and Florida spans 35 years, Mr. McClintock has worked in economic development and banking in the South Florida market since relocating in 1991.
