Commercial real estate professionals had a chance to see the newest products offered by several premier lending institutions at the 1st Annual LENDERPALOOZA event held at the RCA Auditorium on June 21, 2013.  Representatives from PNC Bank, Wells Fargo, TD Bank, Total Bank, Seacoast National Bank, Capital Source, and Ready Cap Commercial showcased their services to nearly 100 participants.  Non-lender sponsors included The Fitzgerald Group, Brown & Brown Insurance, Aruba Services and SGF Environmental Consultants.  The event, hosted by The Loan Committee and the RCA, and moderated by The Loan Committee’s Program Director Adam Von Romer, provided a robust networking opportunity that gave guests and members a chance to exchange information.  Many thanks to the RCA’s Maureen Miller for coordinating such a successful event.

On September 11-13, 2013, the Florida Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (FLAGGL) will host its second annual conference at the Rosen Center Shingle Creek in Orlando, FL.  This year’s conference is expected to host a cross section of attendees from various industry institutions throughout the state of Florida. The annual conference will include general sessions, keynote addresses, breakout sessions and networking opportunities with other colleagues and SBA officials.

Dodd-Frank was the topic at The Loan Committee / Commercial Finance Association joint luncheon that was held on March 12, 2013 at the Lauderdale Yacht Club.  Keith Costello, President & CEO with Broward Bank of Commerce, Ian Berkowitz, Esq. with Berkowitz & Associates, PA, and Robert Brighton, Jr., Partner with Shutts & Bowen, LLP, provided the attendees with up to date information on what to expect with this new legislation.

DR. HUGH KELLY, Economist, was the keynote speaker at The Loan Committee breakfast held at the Tower Club on January 18, 2013.  Dr. Kelly presented “Beyond the ‘Cliff’ Notes” – America’s Economy and Real Estate Markets 2013.  Wealth Generation since 2009, a discussion of where institutional money fund capital has gone, and the secular downward trend in interest rates since 1995 were highlighted.  Dr. Kelly expects easy monetary policy for the next two years, even if job growth accelerates.  Click here to see Dr. Kelly’s presentation.

MS. LORI PARRISH, CFA, Broward County Property Appraiser (BCPA) was the keynote speaker at The Loan Committee breakfast held at the Tower Club on November 16, 2012.  Mr. Dan Hafner, MAI, Commercial Senior Coordinator, and Mr. Robert Zbikowski, MAI, Commercial Senior Appraiser with the BCPA also addressed the group.  What to expect in 2013 and beyond based on trends over the last four years was discussed, as well as a discussion of recent changes (legal, etc.) that members of The Loan Committee should be aware of.  Attendees included south Florida lenders and commercial real estate professionals.

Ms. Lori Parrish, CFA, Broward County Property Appraiser will speak at The Loan Committee breakfast networking event on November 16, 2012, at the Tower Club.  Ms. Parrish will discuss:  (1) what to expect in 2013 and beyond based on trends over the last four years; (2) what property improvements or other legally recognized factors have the greatest effect on value; and (3) whether there have been any recent changes (legal, etc.) that members of The Loan Committee should be aware of.  Visit the “Events” page to RSVP for this exciting event.
